This includes spoilers for The Mortal Instrument book series so don’t read this post if you want to read, or are currently reading the books, all 6 of them. This post also includes spoilers of the Shadowhunter TV Series finale (3.21&3.22). Also this is based off of my opinions and my thoughts, so if you have different opinions, I respect that so please at least respect mine and lastly, if you don’t agree with what I’ve said, move on from this post and refrain from commenting negative comments, if you do, I will not reply to you.

The one reason why I began watching the show was cuz of the books which I loved but nah. The finale (And some episodes of the show)ruined it for me.

WARNING!

(The following contains spoilers for the finale of the show and the book series)

The differences from the show and the books that the show has done which they shouldn’t have;

1. In the book, jace was the one with the heavenly fire in his system, not izzie.

2. Jocelyn never dies.

3. Helen was never introduced in this series, maybe until the last few chapters of the final book, but she was in a couple scenes or even paragraphs tbh. (Basically she wasn’t needed in the show)

4. Clary doesn’t lose her angel blood/rune abilities.

5. Simon was the one to lose his memories, not clary.

6. Raphael dies.

7. There was never a malec wedding in The Mortal Instruments books.

8. The Seelie Queen doesn’t die.

9. Jonathan gets redemption

10. There was never a cure for down worlders/werewolves (at least from what I can remember)

11. Max dies

12. We don’t meet esmodeous until the last few pages of the final book in the series

13. There was an epic war to finish everything off

14. Clary and Simon becomes parabatai, not clary and Isabelle.

15. Clary is the main character and the books was about HER journey of self discovery and the discovery of the shadow world. That’s what the show should be about. Clary. Her journey.

There are so many other things that weren’t included that could have been. For example; an actual badass battle ???

This finale was so disappointing to me. Everything was so mixed up and confusing.

I know that the shows and adaptations are always different than the books. I get that. I do. But this was the finale. The last hoorah. And what covered the majority of the scenes was talk about the malec wedding.

This show is supposed to be badass, full of battles, and depth and a lot of girl power.

Don’t get me wrong, there was girl power, but it just lacked in that department. I just… I don’t know. They could have done a lot more with that finale.

For an adaptation of a book, it felt like they only used the character names and the premise of the book arc and that’s it. When an adaptation is supposed to bring a book to life, maybe not exactly the same obviously, but near enough for example, The Hunger Games was similar to the books, maybe just not including a few characters or scenes for time span purposes. Also, I know budget is a thing but the show could have done without A LOT of the episodes within the series or even scenes that were absolutely useless for the shows progression.

Ps. I love malec. The wedding was beautiful and I would never hate on my beautiful babies and this post is NOT to tho hate on them at all. But they should have used that time from just talk of the wedding and at least shorten the wedding scene for a more full circle plot. Idk. Also, this is my opinion, if you reply with anything that feels like hate or are offended or disagrees with what I’ve said, then I won’t reply to you cuz those are your opinions and these are mine.

All these changes make me sick as a lover of the books

Jude Law Interview about Dumbledore and his sexuality

And what did David Yates mean by Dumbledore not being “explicitly” gay?

Jude Law: „Put it this way: This film is not about his homosexuality, nor does his sexuality define him. But that relationship is certainly a defining element of who he is and what he’s about. I also don’t think he’s someone who has given his heart or his soul to many people. The aftermath of their relationship left him reeling, and he’s packed his heart in ice, to be honest, and no one’s quite thawed it.“

Is the world ready for a gay children’s icon?

Jude Law: „I think the world is ready for it, and if it isn’t, it bloody well should be.

So much has happened since I last saw you! I lost my hammer, like yesterday, so that’s still fresh. Then I went on a journey of self-discovery. Then I met you.

Summaries

kierkegarden-archive:

Friend: So what is Harry Potter about, anyways?

Me: Well, it’s the tragic lovestory of two gay wizards at the turn of the 19th century. They begin their relationship in England after Gellert is kicked out of Wizarding school at the young age of sixteen. Albus is absolutely dazzled by meeting a boy who matches him in intelligence - as he has never met such a person before. Soon, the two boys establish a steamy and romance as well as the beginnings of a plot for a new world order - a dangerous scheme that involves mysterious and ancient magical artifacts known as The Deathly Hallows.

And I guess there was a kid named Harry and a dark lord Voldemort and some freckled gingers and a blond kid who smirks a lot. But that was mostly just a sideplot.

  • Ariana: Don't worry. He likes your butt and fancy hair. I know. I read his diary.
  • Gellert: He thinks it's fancy?

I’m curious, was it really common to wear leathers in 1920s? It was a little bit odd to see Grindelwald in that type of clothes and Dumbledore wasn’t even there

misfitmal:

so i just got back from seeing the crimes of grindelwald for the second time

and maybe this was really obvious to everyone else, or it’s been said already, but my brother turns to me and goes “grindelwald cut his left palm when making the blood pact with Dumbledore, and he picked up the bird with his left hand before it became a Phoenix— so” and my mind just fucking blew up like kid u right

  • Queenie: *reads grindelward's mind after the fiasco*
  • Gellert: SHOUT_OUT_TO_MY_EX.Mp3 on repeat
  • Queenie: what the fuck

Life is truly amazing

I wonder what ten years old me would think when she knows I’m shipping grindeldore so hard after all these years and be crying over professor Dumbledore’s love life at 3am, like who’d have known

Exactly
